Questions + answers
Questions are welcome.
Clear answers before you decide what — if anything — comes next.
Vedazon is built around curiosity, not pressure. These answers explain the experience, the evidence, the limits, and the practical details. If something remains unclear, begin with a conversation.

Pulsed light is not right for every body.
Screening comes before a first NeuroVeda experience. You may reduce, pause, or stop at any time.
Before you begin
Vedazon is a place for guided self-observation. Ayurveda offers a traditional language for noticing patterns. NeuroVeda offers immersive light and sound experiences informed by research on rhythm, attention, and sensory response. The purpose is not to label you. It is to help you notice more clearly and choose what feels useful.
No. Ayurveda is presented as a traditional framework, not a belief requirement. You are invited to consider its questions, notice your own experience, and keep what proves meaningful to you.
No. Vedazon offers educational guidance and wellness experiences. We do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical or mental-health conditions. Our work is not a substitute for a physician, licensed mental-health professional, emergency service, or other qualified care.
NeuroVeda is the name for Vedazon’s guided light and sound experiences. A ROXiva RX1 device provides rhythmic light through closed eyelids while sound is delivered through headphones. The device is one tool within a supported experience that also includes screening, preparation, choice, and time to integrate afterward.
You begin with a brief conversation and safety review. During a light and sound experience, you recline with your eyes closed and wear headphones. Jo or a certified NeuroVeda practitioner remains present, and the intensity can be adjusted. After the light ends, there is time to reorient and discuss or record what you noticed.
Safety and comfort
No. Pulsed light is not appropriate for everyone, which is why screening comes before the first experience. Some people should not proceed, while others may need guidance from a healthcare professional. Never assume that a wellness setting removes the need for caution.
Please contact us before booking if you have a personal or family history of seizures or epilepsy; sensitivity to flashing light; migraine triggered by flicker; recent concussion, brain injury, stroke, eye procedure, or serious eye condition; significant vertigo; pregnancy; a current acute psychiatric condition or recent mental-health crisis; an implanted medical device; or medication that may increase photosensitivity. If you are unsure, ask before scheduling.
Yes. You may reduce the intensity, pause, or stop at any time. You do not need to push through nausea, headache, rising anxiety, disorientation, racing heart, or any other discomfort. Tell your certified NeuroVeda practitioner immediately so the experience can be adjusted or ended.
Arrive reasonably rested, eat and hydrate normally, and avoid alcohol or recreational substances. Tell us about relevant medications, health changes, migraine or seizure history, and anything that might affect your comfort with light or sound. Specific instructions will be included with your booking.
Allow a few quiet minutes before driving or returning to a demanding task. Some people feel rested; others feel alert, reflective, emotional, or simply unchanged. There is no correct response. Notice what is present and give yourself time to reorient.
Science and evidence
Sensory entrainment is a broad term for the nervous system’s response to repeated rhythmic stimulation. In research settings, rhythmic light or sound can produce measurable activity linked to the timing of the stimulus. The strength and meaning of that response vary across people and conditions.
Not reliably. Brainwave bands are descriptions of measured electrical activity, and certain patterns are associated with sleep, attention, or other conditions. They do not work like buttons. A selected stimulus may influence experience, but it does not guarantee relaxation, meditation, insight, focus, or any other named state.
No. Photobiomodulation generally uses specified red or near-infrared wavelengths delivered at defined doses to tissue. NeuroVeda uses visible pulsed light as a sensory stimulus through closed eyelids. We do not describe a ROXiva experience as mitochondrial, cellular, or tissue-healing treatment.
Research near 40 Hz has shown that sensory stimulation can evoke gamma-frequency neural responses. Small human feasibility studies have also explored repeated stimulation in clinical populations. Clinical benefits, optimal parameters, long-term effects, and individual suitability remain under investigation. Vedazon does not offer 40 Hz stimulation as treatment for a neurological condition.
Researchers have studied individual Ayurvedic practices and have explored associations between Prakriti classifications and genomic or physiological measures. Some findings are interesting, but they do not validate Ayurveda as a whole or establish a medical diagnostic system. They also do not show that a dosha corresponds to a brainwave band.
Ayurveda and personalisation
In Ayurveda, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha are traditional organising principles used to describe patterns of movement and variability, transformation and intensity, and steadiness and accumulation. Everyone contains all three. They are not personality boxes, medical diagnoses, or permanent identities.
Ayurveda helps Jo or a certified NeuroVeda practitioner ask about the person: patterns, rhythms, history, preferences, and what is happening now. Neuroscience helps describe parts of sensory response and attention. Ayurveda does not determine a brainwave target, and neuroscience does not prove a dosha. The two lenses meet in the way an experience is prepared, paced, and reflected upon.
Your Compass is a brief guided reflection. It offers a starting pattern and returns Your First Field Notes. It is not an assessment or diagnosis. An Ayurveda consultation is a longer one-to-one conversation that makes room for history, routines, current concerns, constitutional patterns, and realistic practices.
A consultation includes a detailed conversation with Jo or a certified NeuroVeda practitioner, exploration of Prakriti and Vikriti as Ayurvedic frameworks, and practical guidance that may include food, daily rhythm, rest, movement, breath, and other supportive practices. Current appointment length and inclusions are listed on the booking page. Herbal guidance, when appropriate, remains within the professional scope of the practitioner providing it and does not replace medical prescribing.
Experiences and booking
You may begin with Your Compass, a free conversation, Ayurveda guidance, a gentler First Light experience, a Core NeuroVeda experience, or the longer VISIONS format. The right beginning depends on your curiosity, location, previous experience, and safety screening — not on a required sequence.
Appointment lengths vary by format and are shown on the booking page. One experience may stand on its own. There is no universal number and no required series. If you choose to return, the next experience should be shaped by what you noticed, what was useful, and whether continuing feels appropriate.
In-person NeuroVeda experiences take place on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Ayurveda consultations are available by video. Guided home experiences may be possible for people who already have access to a compatible device and complete the required suitability review. Couples, small groups, retreats, and private events can be arranged in advance.
Yes. Begin on the Book an Experience page. You may choose a free conversation with Jo or a certified NeuroVeda practitioner if you would like help deciding, or continue to the external scheduling service when you know what you want to book. The handoff will be clearly labelled before you leave Vedazon.
